Tricky is both angry and bored by the fact that you think he looks like an alien.

2. This one comes from those heady times when you first realized you could get music for free on the internet … and didn’t realize the legal/moral implications … This cover was circulated pretty extensively (among my friends who were at various colleges on the East coast), but with a variety of different tags: some people had it as Phish, others Blues Traveler. To my ears the vocals sound much more John Popper-ish than any of the guys in Phish-ish. [EDIT]: Too bad my ears are wrong and Charlotte is right and it’s by The Gourds.

3. Admirers of the Wu know that RZA’s production has always had a more musical sound than a lot of other hip-hop producers’ work. So it would make sense for some soul and/or funk band to cover some of his stuff. And El Michels Affair is just the soul and/or funk band to do it. Let me tell you, if you ever get the chance to see these guys perform (like I did a few weeks back at the Socrates Sculpture Garden in Long Island City), definitely jump at it. They didn’t perform any Wu-Tang covers, but it was still amazing.
